Cousins
We’re lucky to have discovered these talented Styron cousins around the country:
Mary Faircloth Lawson, Oklahoma
Mary helps Emery’s daughter Cameryn weave a basket at our 2009 Family ReunionWe Styron silblings grew up with cousin Mary, a first cousin from our mother’s side, during frequent family trips to Pryor, OK, where she now owns The Scrapbook Bug, a full service scrapbook store. Scrapbookers travel from all over northeastern Oklahoma to visit Mary and her daughter Libby’s quaint little shop located right on Main Street. Always greeted with a warm smile, a fresh pot of coffee, and a great variety of scrapbooking supplies, shoppers often remark, “I always find something here that I haven’t seen anywhere else.” In addition, The Bug offers scrapbooking classes, custom invitations and scrapbook pages, and scrapbooking parties and just recently added Glitter Girls, a little jewelry nook located in the store for fun and funky junque jewelry!
Mary took over operation of the store in January of 2008. Daughter, Libby,
The Scrapbook Bug is located 230 E. Graham Pryor, OK 74361had been running the store since it was purchased in September, 2005. “Once we knew that baby #2 would be arriving a short 16 months after Baby #1, we knew that Libby’s days were numbered.” Lawson left a 20 year career in human resources to run the store. “I can’t even imagine returning to the corporate world! I love what I’m doing and I love doing it in Pryor!”
Emily Styron, Indiana

A native of North Carolina, Emily now lives in Indiana. She is a management consultant working primarily with non-for-profit organizations.
In addition, Emily is a member of Ashré, an eight-member ensemble of women who play West African drums and sing songs originating from various cultures. You can learn more at Ashre.com.
Glenn Styron, California
Glenn Styron grew up on Long Island, New York, and ended up in Long Beach, California, where he follows the Styron compulsion to invent things. Glenn is a project manager at Westerly Marine, where he assists with the design and outfitting of yachts.
On his own, Glenn has invented and manufactures money clips made of carbon fiber, which are not just a piece of springy plastic. Check the Pirate Carbon website, and you’ll see that these clips prevent scanners from stealing the magnetic encoding from your ATM and credit cards placed in the clips. The clips are great for “affinity marketing,” which means that they can be imprinted with company logos and other info and given to friends and customers.
Lacrosse is another of Glenn’s passions. He is almost single-handedly responsible for establishing youth lacrosse in Southern California, which is now played by thousands of boys and girls. You can read this article that describes how he did it.
Jeremy Styron, South Carolina
Jeremy Styron works in Seneca, in the mountainous northwest corner of South Carolina, the home of Clemson University, where he is a night editor for a daily newspaper. His blog, at jeremystyron.com, is called “Our Daily Train.” He’s interested in politics, history, and religion and the ways they overlap. Like many of the Missouri Styrons, he likes to write songs and play the guitar (and you can find him doing so on Youtube). We haven’t met Jeremy in person, but feel like he’d fit in at any gathering of the Ozark Styrons.
Lee Styron, Alabama
Like a lot of other Styrons, Lee is an inventor and woodworker. From his shop in Alabama, he designs, builds, and sells the Shark Guard and other accessories that make table saws and routers safer and better.
